Founding Fathers—Uncommon Heroes

Founding Fathers coverThe Founding Fathers were patriots. The root word of ‘founding’ is ‘found’, which means to “take the first steps in building”. The first builders of the nation. The use of the word ‘father’ in this sense means originator. They began the whole thing.

In this context, a father is one who has become one of the leading men as of a country. Just like a man is a father to a boy. The originator, the starter, the one who sees it through.

The way we use these words together today refers to the men who were there at the beginning of our new nation. The ones who originated or started the process of building a new nation. Nation means a politically organized community.

Hence, the Founding Fathers of this nation really started something! In our history, the Founding Fathers would me the men who met together to create documents such as The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, the Federalist Papers, and on and on.

Then they had to fight the battles to cause it to take place. Battles on the battlefields and in the halls of government.

Some of the most notable Founding Fathers were George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Patrick Henry and James Madison. In addition there were the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, the heroes of the Revolutionary War, and the 55 signers of the U.S. Constitution, and the first national Presidency.

Reading about these men, one comes to understand how valiantly these men fought for what they believed in. How wise and learned these men were. How accomplished and revered they were as well. And what they sacrificed that we could have the nation we have today.

It was fascinating to research and write about six of these men in my book “Founding Fathers—Uncommon Heroes”. The response from those who have read this book has been gratifying. Thank you. If you haven’t yet read it, I hope you will soon pick it up.
